Do Tour Players Play Better Golf After Injuries?

It often seems to us that tour players play better golf after injuries than before.

Do tour players really play better golf after injuries? MD Göbel explains in this video why it seems to us that tour players often golf better after injuries than before and and how it is with amateurs.

It seems to us that many injured golfers come back stronger after an injury than before. In reality, the risk of re-injury increases by a factor of 1.5 if the cause of the injury, such as lateral shear forces, torsions, hollow back or a too steep angle of attack of the clubhead, is not exchanged for the Core Balance Free Release method?

Play Better Golf Without Re-Injuries

According to MD Göbel the risk of injury after a healed injury, if the old movement pattern is not changed, is always increased. After each healing, a scar, remains.

If the impression is created that the athlete play better golf than before, in other words, is coming back stronger than before, then this has to do with physiology training. The training level of an athlete, especially in the competition phase, will always be at the limit. They want to improve with every workout. They always want to play better golf.

Better Golf – Regeneration and Rehabilitation After Injuries

If they experience an injury now, they will be led directly from the competition training phase back to the regeneration and rehabilitation phase. That means, the athlete has longer pauses for the entire musculoskeletal system, longer mental pauses. The body as a whole is in the regeneration phase, either in the first or last phase, depending on how you see it from the training plan, not in the absolute limit of the competition phase. As a result it seams that they play better golf.

Every Damage to the Musculoskeletal System Leave a Scar – a Functional Deficit

For this reason, the psychological feeling may be that you feel stronger because you are rested…however, seen from the musculoskeletal system, every fracture healing, every tendon healing, every muscle healing results in a scar, i.e. a functional deficit. A scarred muscle, or a damaged muscle that is less available, becomes less functional and must be compensated by other muscle groups. There is no doubt, with a scarred muscle you are not able to play better golf.

Eliminate the Cause of Injury

This means, that if we do not eliminate the cause, the athlete will have a lower level of performance with the same injury pattern, even if the injury is supposedly healed and will not play better golf than before.
