Golf Injuries – How to Avoid Ankle Joint Pain in Golf? – MD Dietmar Göbel
Many golfers suffer from ankle pain. This kind of pain is one of the best known golf injuries. How can we avoid these injuries in the ankle joint?
MD Dietmar Göbel explains in this video why a lateral buckling of the left ankle joint after the ball impact is a high risk of arthritis. What does arthrosis mean for the ankle? Why is the FREE-RELEASE Turning Golf Shoe the solution to this problem?
The Ankle Joint has Only Little Freedom of Movement
According to MD Göbel the ankle joint, especially the upper ankle joint, has little freedom of movement in terms of rotation and lateral flexion. Especially if, for example, there is a right angle between the lower leg and the foot on the ground attachment.
If we lead the foot in a pointed direction, towards the ground, in the sense of a toe strain, slightly more tilting movements are possible. But when golfing we stand on the ground. i.e. a lateral bending movement from this starting position is not intended at all. The ankle joint is, so to speak, locked.
Tolerate Natural Movement Patterns of the Ankle Joint
If we do not tolerate this restricted movement of the ankle joint , and always exert a force there, we overstretch our ligaments at the ankle joint. overstretched ligaments at the ankle joint cause problems during the activity, because we will open the outside, the side closest to the target, on the non-target side. On the inner side, we directly overload the cartilage by tilting and shearing movements.
It goes even further, we produce a wobbling joint, a wobbling ankle, which shows much more wobbling and shearing and tilting movements during daily walking. This is for example on cobblestones or on a beach holiday, and thus this produces more serious arthrosis in the ankle in the long run.
Avoid Secondary Damage in Further Levels
Of course, this in turn disturbs the movement, rolling and walking pattern from the basement, so that secondary damage can also be expected on other levels.
